Leather often intimidates many due to the uncertainty of how to look after them. However, our leather requires minimal care with regular use. Here are a few pointers to maintain the natural look of leather:
- Never use cleaning solvents, oils, varnish, furniture polish, or soap with a detergent base.
- Do not use polish or cleaners.
- Use a dry cloth to dust your furniture gently.
Important Tips
Here are a few steps you could take to maintain specialty leathers:
You must gently blot the area with a sponge or a clean, absorbent cloth. If the stain is still visible, gently apply light to moderate pressure and clean the area using a circular motion. Ensure you do not rub with force; place it near a heater, or use a hair dryer to dry it. You could instead dampen a cloth in lukewarm water and let it air dry.
Do not rub any spills or stains. You must instead blot them with a clean, dry cloth. And then gently brush it out with a suede brush.
You must be extremely careful with Aniline leathers. If you spill or stain these, immediately blot the area with a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge. A mild, neutral pH soap on a damp cloth may remove dirt. But do not put pressure on the stain or rub the area with force.
If you cross paths with a difficult stain, apply a mild, neutral pH soap to a damp clean sponge or cloth and wipe the area gently. Once done, rinse the area with lukewarm water and allow it to air dry.
Soak immediately with a paper towel or clean cloth for common spills or soil. You must ensure that the cloth is damp and not wet, and use mild, neutral pH soap. It may seem like a good idea, but we don’t suggest washing these hides in a washing machine or having them dry-cleaned; they must always air dry. And we recommend using a vacuum’s soft brush attachment for dirt particles and dust. Please refrain from using cleaning chemicals or Ivory liquid since it has a detergent base.
